  1. FreeType 2.12.1
  2. ===============
  3. Homepage: https://www.freetype.org
  4. FreeType is a freely available software library to render fonts.
  5. It is written in C, designed to be small, efficient, highly
  6. customizable, and portable while capable of producing high-quality
  7. output (glyph images) of most vector and bitmap font formats.
  8. Please read the `docs/CHANGES` file, it contains IMPORTANT
  9. INFORMATION.
  10. Read the files `docs/INSTALL*` for installation instructions; see the
  11. file `docs/LICENSE.TXT` for the available licenses.
  12. For using FreeType's git repository instead of a distribution bundle,
  13. please read file `README.git`.
  14. The FreeType 2 API reference is located in directory `docs/reference`;
  15. use the file `index.html` as the top entry point. [Please note that
  16. currently the search function for locally installed documentation
  17. doesn't work due to cross-site scripting issues.]
  18. Additional documentation is available as a separate package from our
  19. sites. Go to
  20. https://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/freetype/
  21. and download one of the following files.
  22. freetype-doc-2.12.1.tar.xz
  23. freetype-doc-2.12.1.tar.gz
  24. ftdoc2121.zip
  25. To view the documentation online, go to
  26. https://www.freetype.org/freetype2/docs/
  27. Mailing Lists
  28. -------------
  29. The preferred way of communication with the FreeType team is using
  30. e-mail lists.
  31. general use and discussion: freetype@nongnu.org
  32. engine internals, porting, etc.: freetype-devel@nongnu.org
  33. announcements: freetype-announce@nongnu.org
  34. git repository tracker: freetype-commit@nongnu.org
  35. The lists are moderated; see
  36. https://www.freetype.org/contact.html
  37. how to subscribe.
  38. Bugs
  39. ----
  40. Please submit bug reports at
  41. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freetype/freetype/-/issues
  42. Alternatively, you might report bugs by e-mail to
  43. `freetype-devel@nongnu.org`. Don't forget to send a detailed
  44. explanation of the problem -- there is nothing worse than receiving a
  45. terse message that only says 'it doesn't work'.
  46. Patches
  47. -------
  48. For larger changes please provide merge requests at
  49. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freetype/freetype/-/merge_requests
  50. Alternatively, you can send patches to the `freetype-devel@nongnu.org`
  51. mailing list -- and thank you in advance for your work on improving
  52. FreeType!
  53. Details on the process can be found here:
  54. https://www.freetype.org/developer.html#patches
  55. Enjoy!
